What’s your home stager story? It’s a question I’ve been inspired to ask by this video on brand and content marketing. Sometimes we joke in my house, that I really should have a label somewhere that says, “Powered by Coke” because their happiness project has really worked on me. hmmm… maybe I should submit a piece and get profiled by them. =)
One of the things that I’ve noticed over the years is that forum’s like facebook made me “human” to both colleagues and clients. Prior to facebook, people saw me as ‘all business, all the time’. Well, I love to work, but I also have a very close family life, one that means more to me than anything. When people got to know that about me, the robot faded and I became human. Because people seemed to like me better knowing that I was in fact human, it helped my brand. They realized that I wasn’t just like everyone else. I was unique, and that was a good thing.
How can you turn around and tell your story, or your client’s stories to create brand & content marketing?
Consider interviewing current or past clients and have them talk about their experiences.
- What was it like before they had their listings staged vs now? Did they sit on the market longer? Did they spend more money in advertising? Did the seller begin to wonder if they would be able to move on with their life?
- What was the staging experience like? Were they excited, nervous, irritated at the process? Was it easier or harder than they expected? What surprised them about the experience? How did they feel after it was all done?
- What were the outcomes? Get your best outcome stories into blogs or videos. Tell about ‘that one time…. ‘ when everything went really really well, or maybe even when it went really really wrong.
Stories are becoming popular today because we have such electronic connection. We don’t grow up with anyone anymore. Everyone moves, the worker changes jobs more frequently and many of our relationships are cyber. Still, as people, we crave to know more and relate to others.
Figure out your story, the story of your business, and your client’s story and you may just have a branding and content marketing power house!
In this spirit, we’ve decided to begin the “I’m a home stager” series. Starting today, we will begin interviewing stagers all around the world, collecting and sharing their stories. If you would like to be included, please email us and we will send our interview form.
