Despite the rational knowledge that I’ve got a lot on my plate between Market Ready Real Estate, Staging & Redesign Home Staging Training, and The Hive arts & crafts community, I find myself longing for my home staging days. Shopping, I find myself far too often uttering the words, “but we don’t do that anymore” when finding the perfect lamp, piece of art or other potentially phenomenal staging prop. The words are said with complete and utter sadness, mixed with the heartbreaking reality that selling my company in South Carolina, which was the right decision to make on many levels, might be the biggest regret of my career.
After trying to deny and avoid it for the past six months, I’m out of excuses. Finally, embracing what I know to be true – I am a home stager – I’m off to set up a new company. The name, one of the most important elements of company image, has been set. Rave ReViews (said as Re-Views not reviews – as in to look again) is bought and paid for. The logo is in the works and while I have access to several very good graphic designers, this time I opted for something new – an experiment. I put in a campaign at 99designs. If you click on the link, you’ll get to see some of the now nearly 200 logo designs that have been presented to me to pick from. (Please feel free to leave me your opinion – this is kind of overwhelming with so many options!)
The next step is to get the new website created. The URL’s http://rave-reviews-home-staging.com and http://jacksonville-home-staging.com have been purchased and are currently in the works. Feel free to peek in on my process to see how we modify it over the next couple of weeks to get the right feel and image. Speaking of which… this time I’ve opted for a less “designer” look and more “social media”. Since my primary marketing focus will be on social media, and much of our business will come from an online presence, I’m going to see if that makes a difference in how real estate agents view us. Since they so often view us as “designers” and not real estate professionals, let’s see if we get a little less pretty and a little more techy if it makes an impact.
So… that’s where am I today. Tell me what you think….

Well, aren’t you sweet? One of my big decisions is that I have 3 friends who were all stagers with really good aesthetics who now no longer work in staging (hated the marketing – which is the part I love). Thankfully I already have a built in team!
