I regularly hear the struggle from home stagers who haven’t quite figured out their markets yet. I often hear that they simply didn’t get enough of the “business” part of the industry in theiror they just don’t know how to get agents “on-board” with what they are offering.
It’s been years since I’ve really had to earnestly market my home staging company. Having done it so well in the beginning the last time I started one, all I needed to do was continue maintaining what I built. For the last year or so, our goal was actually slowing growth because of the heavy investments in inventory (as our market was primarily vacant homes).
Last August I moved to Jacksonville and in January 2012 I sold my Charleston home staging company. It was difficult, but the right thing to do as I was no longer there. Now, finally after months of hearing my husband ask me, “So when are you starting another staging company?” and saying that I’m not, it has become inevitable.
Since I’m starting fresh, and opening a Jacksonville home staging company, I thought I would share my journey with you. I’ll be posting my progress here at StagingAndRedesign.com. Perhaps it will help others who are struggling watch as I do what they’ve been doing (again).
If following along isn’t enough, however, I do offer home staging mentoring and business coaching. Mentoring will allow you to speak with me weekly, bi-weekly or monthly depending on your needs. We’ll talk through what’s working, what’s not and I’ll help you traverse your marketplace and give you ideas on how to move to the next level. Business Coaching will hold you accountable to a standard that we set at each session. You’ll have to meet specific tasks with the intended goal of growing your business.
If your business isn’t where you like it would be, don’t get frustrated, get help.
